Abdulrahman Al-Sumait University (SUMAIT) was established on the foundation of the former University College of Education Zanzibar, founded in 1998 by the Kuwait-based charity organization, Direct Aid (DA). Cybersecurity Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer

Job Type: Academic Position (Reporting to Head of Department of Mathematics and Computer Science)

Qualifications:

Lecturer

• Ph.D. in cybersecurity or a closely related field.
• Master’s Degree in Cybersecurity or a related field with a GPA of at least 4.0.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with a GPA of at least 3.5.
• Strong record of research publications in cybersecurity.

Assistant Lecturer

• Master’s Degree in Cybersecurity or a related field with a GPA of at least 4.0.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with a GPA of at least 3.5.

Essential Requirements:

• 2–3 years of university-level teaching experience in core cybersecurity subjects.
• Proficiency in subjects including network security, cryptography, ethical hacking, digital forensics, and security strategies.
• Familiarity with cyber law, cyber warfare, and cyber risk management.
• Experience with security tools such as Kali Linux, SIEM, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability assessments.
• Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks like NIST and ISO 27001.
• Research experience in cybersecurity.

Data Science Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer

Qualifications:

Lecturer

• Ph.D. in data science or a related field.
• Master’s Degree in Data Science or a related field with a GPA of at least 4.0.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with a GPA of at least 3.5.
• Research publications in data science, ML, or AI.

Assistant Lecturer

• Master’s Degree in Data Science or a related field with a GPA of at least 4.0.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with a GPA of at least 3.5.

Essential Requirements:

• 2–3 years of university-level teaching experience in data science-related subjects.
• Ability to teach AI, ML, NLP, big data analytics, and more.
• Proficiency with Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow), R, SQL, Spark, Tableau, Power BI, etc.
• Knowledge of CRISP-DM, explainable AI, and responsible AI principles.
• Research experience in data science and AI.

Computer Science Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer

Lecturer

• Ph.D. in computer science or a related field.
• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field with a GPA of at least 4.0.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with a GPA of at least 3.5.

Assistant Lecturer

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field with a GPA of at least 4.0.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with a GPA of at least 3.5.

Essential Requirements:

• 2–3 years of university-level teaching experience in core computer science areas.
• Teaching ability in areas such as data structures, algorithms, web & mobile app development, software engineering, operating systems, AI, and more.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, C++, JavaScript, SQL, etc.
• Understanding of Agile, DevOps, Git, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Research experience in computer science and emerging technologies like IoT, blockchain, and cloud computing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teaching undergraduate courses and supervising research.
• Conducting research and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
• Developing and reviewing academic programs.
• Hosting seminars, workshops, and academic engagement.
• Participating in curriculum and quality assurance reviews.
• Academic mentorship and advising.
• Supporting university committees and outreach.
• Performing other academic duties as assigned.
