The National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) has fully accredited DIT to conduct its programs and provide awards to qualified applicants in accordance with NACTE and institution policies. The following awards are available: Bachelor Degree Programs (NTA Levels 7–8), Master Degree Programs (NTA Level 9), and Ordinary Diploma Programs (Levels 4–6) of the National Technical Award (NTA). Additionally, DIT has an NVA level I–III registration with VETA to provide vocational training.

The Vocational Education Training Authority (VETA) has registered DIT Myunga Campus in Songwe, DIT Mwanza campus, and the India Tanzania Center of Excellence in Information and Communication Technology (COEICT) in Dar es Salaam to offer vocational training courses at National Vocational Awards (NVA) Level 1–3 in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Basic Technician Certificate and Technician Certificate:

NTAs 4-5 offer distinct exit levels, the Basic Technician Certificate and Technician Certificates, respectively. Pupils who successfully complete the criteria for an NTA 4 or NTA 5 Basic Technician Certificate but decide to withdraw or are unable to earn an Ordinary Diploma will get the appropriate award.

  • Ordinary Diploma in Civil Engineering (offered at DIT Main campus and Myunga campus)

  • Ordinary Diploma in Electrical Engineering

  • Ordinary Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering

  • Ordinary Diploma in Science and Laboratory Technology (offered at DIT Main campus and Mwanza campus)
  • Ordinary Diploma in Mining Engineering
  • Ordinary Diploma in Information Technology
  • Ordinary Diploma Communication System Technology
  • Ordinary Diploma Multimedia and Film Technology
  • Ordinary Diploma in Food Science and Technology
  • Ordinary Diploma in Biotechnology
  • Ordinary Diploma in Leather Processing Technologies (offered at Mwanza campus)
  • Ordinary Diploma in Food Processing Technologies (offered at Mwanza campus).

Higher Diploma Programmes:

The bachelor’s degree program includes the higher diploma. Students who successfully complete the prerequisites for the rewards of a Higher Diploma but decide to withdraw or are unable to complete their Bachelor’s degree will receive the Higher Diploma (NTA 7).

Bachelor Degrees Programmes (NTA 8):

For Ordinary Diploma and Form Six graduates, the bachelor’s degree programs last three and four academic years, respectively. The degree programs that DIT is now offering are given below.

  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Computer Engineering
  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Electrical Engineering

  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Mechanical Engineering
  • Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Laboratory Sciences
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Oil and Gas Engineering
  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Mining Engineering
  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Biomedical Engineering.

Masters’ Programmes (NTA 9):

DIT offers three postgraduate programs to address technological problems and market demand capacity.

  • Master of Engineering in Maintenance Management (18 months)
  • Master in Computational Science and Engineering (18 months)
  • Master of Technology in Computing and Communication (18 months) and
  • Master of Engineering in Sustainable Energy Engineering (24 months)
  • These programmes are offered by coursework and dissertation.
