Barrick North Mara began manufacturing items for retail sale in 2002. The mine operates two deposits: Nyabirama, an open pit, and Gokona, an underground mine. The processing unit can handle an average of 8,000 tonnes of ore each day.
The North Mara gold mine (Barrick Gold Corporation) is located in the Tarime district of the Mara region, northwest Tanzania. It is located approximately 100 kilometers east of Lake Victoria and 20 kilometers south of the Kenyan border.

Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and Barrick health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Report all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) issues through an incident report.
- Participate and make a significant contribution to the site safety and environmental culture.
- Understands the mine planning and production requirements.
- Understands project planning, civil and architectural designs for various projects.
- Supervising and instructing Survey Technicians and Assistants.
- Responsible for carrying out surveys of all engineering, geotechnical, and geological designs with minimum supervision.
- Perform a bathymetric survey of the Tailing Storage Facility and other water bodies in the mine.
- Complete any other duties assigned by the Survey First Line Leader or another supervisor.
- Assist Survey Technicians with their day-to-day activities.
Qualification requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Geomatics or Land Surveying.
Experience and Competencies needed:
- At least three months to a year of experience in civil construction projects such as roads, dams, and buildings.
- Practical experience in a major mining environment, preferably underground and open pit.
- Excellent safety record.
- Strong understanding of Large Mining Surveying concepts.
- Excellent knowledge of current surveying equipment such as drones, Trimble/Leica/Sokkia GNSS receivers, Trimble/Leica Total Station, optical levels and plummets, laser scanners, and Slimgyro/Boretrack.
- Strong knowledge of mining software including Geovia Surpac, Maptek, Datamine, AutoCAD 3D, Trimble Business Centre (TBC), ArcGIS, and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Possession of a current and valid Tanzania driving license.
- Possession of a current Tanzania passport
- Possession of a valid Remote Drone Pilot certificate will be an additional advantage.
