38 Vacancies Open at Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS)

The Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) was established by the Standards Act No. 3 of 1975 under the name National Standards Institute (NSI). It was changed to the present name of TBS by Act No. 1 of 1977. The Standards Act No. 3 of 1975 was later repealed and replaced by Act No. 2 of 2009. The Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) as a high-technology organization has been entrusted with the specialized tasks of standardization, quality assurance, and metrological services in the country. By the nature of its work, TBS has to maintain close contacts with other national standards bodies in the world and international standardizing agencies like the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC), and African Regional Organization for Standardization (ARSO).

On behalf of the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS), the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS) is seeking high-calibre, results-oriented, self-driven professionals with integrity, as well as energetic and qualified Tanzanians, to fill the empty positions listed below.

Open Positions

1. Technician II (Mechanical) – 1 Post

  • Holder of a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent certificate from a recognized institution.

2. Inspection Officer II (Food Science)- 4 Posts

  • Holder of a bachelor’s degree in food science and technology, or comparable qualifications from a recognized university.

3. Inspection Officer II (Chemical And Process Engineering): 3 posts

  • Holder of a bachelor’s degree in chemical and process engineering or similar qualifications from a recognized university. The candidate must be registered with the ERB as a Graduate Engineer.

4. Laboratory Assistant II, 5 Post

  • Holder of Form IV Certificate and Certificate/Trade Test III/Level I in one of the following fields: Biotechnology and Laboratory Science, Laboratory Science and Technology, or any other comparable qualification from a recognized institution.

5. Metrologist II (Biomedical)- 2 Post

  • Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution. The candidate must be registered by ERB as a Graduate Engineer. 

6. Librarian II – 1 Post

  • Holder of a bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: library and information studies, library and information science, information studies, documentation and information management, or comparable qualifications from a recognized institution.

7. Technician II (Electrical Engineering): 1 Post

  • Holder of a Diploma in Electrical Engineering or similar certificate from a recognized institution.

8. Research Officer II (Food Science And Technology) – 1 Post

  • Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science and Technology or comparable qualifications from a recognized university. The candidate must be computer-literate.

9. Technician II (Civil Engineering) – 1 Post

  • Holding a Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent degrees from a recognized institution.

10. Technician II (Laboratory Science)- 8 Post

  • Holder of a Diploma in Laboratory Technology, Laboratory Sciences and Technology, or comparable qualifications from a recognized university.

11. Graphics Designer II, 1 Post

  • Holder of a bachelor’s degree in fine art, graphic design, or similar qualifications from a recognized university. Basic knowledge of packaging materials such as paper and pulp, metal, glass, plastic, plastic films, and composites will be advantageous.

12. Quality Assurance Officer II (Civil Engineering)—1 post

  • Holder of a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree or similar qualifications from a recognized university. The candidate must be registered with the ERB as a Graduate Engineer.

13. Quality Assurance Officer II (Food Science) – 6 Post

  • Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science and Technology or comparable qualifications from a recognized university.

14. Quality Assurance Officer II (Chemical And Process Engineering)—1 Post

  • Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical and Process Engineering or comparable qualifications from a recognized university. The candidate must be registered with the ERB as a Graduate Engineer.

15. Engineer II (Mechanical) – 1 Post

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. The candidate must register with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as a Graduate Engineer.

16. Artisan II (Plumbing And Pipe Fitting): 1 post

  • Form IV Certificate with Trade Test III/Level I in Plumbing and Pipe Fitting, or comparable qualifications from a recognised institution.
