Marie Stopes Tanzania (MST), a local Non-Governmental Organization, is a social enterprise and a leading provider of family planning, sexual and reproductive health care and allied services. MST is a partner of the Government of Tanzania and a member of the Marie Stopes International (MSI) Global Partnership, which operates in over 37 countries worldwide. MST’s mission is that all people in Tanzania will have “Children by Choice, Not Chance.”.
Marie Stopes Tanzania seeks a proactive and structured Director of Finance for their Dar es Salaam location.
Among the key responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and functional leadership as a member of the Executive Management team;
- Create accurate, realistic, and inclusive budgets for the MST Country Program, donor funding bids, and sub-departments;
- Oversee and ensure financial systems, procedures, and reporting that allow the effective and compliant use of MSI funds and assets;
- Effectively manage and oversee MST’s operating capital, investments, and financial obligations;
- Responsible for accurate and timely group reporting when working with internal and external auditors;
- Provide leadership authority for the operations function (procurement and stock management); and
- Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you must be/have:
- At least 6 years of experience in a senior management role, preferably in the donor community.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a major division or firm.
- Experience in strategic planning and executing plans to accomplish goals and targets;
- demonstrated effectiveness in defining policies, designing, and implementing strategies and processes.
- Excellent understanding of financial management systems and reporting.
- Hands-on expertise with computerized accounting systems; knowledge with Sun Systems is preferred.
- Understanding the budgeting and reporting needs of donor contracts.
- Capability to create and maintain contacts with high-level government and donor officials;
- demonstrated experience in audit functions;
- Experience working with colleagues in geographically separated locations;
- Cross-functional team player with the flexibility to operate in a changing environment.
- Qualified accountant with ACCA/CPA (essential).
- Degree-educated.
