This role’s primary responsibility is to load, unload, and stack materials in a safe and efficient manner while preserving inventory/materials, governance controls, customer service requirements, and supporting production.
Key roles and responsibilities:
Effective Fleet Management
- Use the forklift inspection checklist to perform pre-trip inspections before each shift begins.
- Ensure that the forklift is operated, cleaned, and maintained in optimal conditions.
- Ensure that fuel and fluids are at acceptable operational levels.
Adherence to the Health, Safety and Environmental Standards
- Department of Labor stacking exemptions are complied with
- 5S and Site cleaning requirements are maintained and adhered to
- Site safety requirements require the use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Follow all relevant SOPs and GOPs.
Effective Stock Quality Management
- Warehouse stock age criteria are maintained by ensuring that stock rotation principles are applied (FEFO).
- Ensures quality control by inspecting packing on the warehouse floor and before loading.
- Effective inventory management and controls that comply with our governance policies
- Participation in the handover procedure before and after each shift
- Accurate daily stock count done with handheld instrument.
- Create variance reports and address inconsistencies.
Key attributes and competencies:
- Numeracy and literacy skills.
- Fluent in English and Swahili.
- Communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to operate under pressure.
- Effective adaptation to change
- Computer literate
- Basic understanding of automotive engineering
Minimum requirements:
- Form IV with qualification in driving from NIT.
- Valid forklift driver license (Class F) from Sumatra
- A minimum of three years’ experience operating double-handling forklifts.
- A minimum of three years’ experience driving a heavy goods vehicle.
