The Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) and the Ministry of Agriculture are relaunching the Building a Better Tomorrow—BBT program in order to encourage young people to have an interest in farming. BBT’s agricultural value chain encompasses numerous strategies and initiatives, such as the establishment of 12,000 economic activities at the village level, the expansion of 20,000 employment opportunities for youth and women through skills development activities (internships), and the cultivation of large farms (block farms) by 2030.
The Ministry of Agriculture intends to establish a unique extension service program (BBT Agricultural Extension Entrepreneurship Scheme—BBT AEES) for recent college graduates as part of the nation’s endeavors to enhance extension services. The following arrangement of temporary employment is required to provide cotton crop extension services through BBT-AEES: one thousand three hundred (1300) positions that require qualified agricultural graduates:
Open Positions
1. Agriculture Officer, 700 Posts
- Providing producers and those engaged in the cotton crop’s value chain with expert advice.
- Joining other users in registering for the present digital system, which can involve local input service providers
- Get more training in leading and forming groups.
- Modeling classrooms after urban farms
- In order for farmers to take advantage of the services offered by local players in the agriculture sector, it is necessary to identify these individuals and then to connect them with farmers.
