UMATI Hiring Project Driver

UMATI, a national non-governmental organization (NGO) founded under CAP 337 in 1973 and later created under Non-governmental Organization Act No. 24 of 2002 in 2019, is an autonomous voluntary organization with the registration number 00NGO/R2/000231. It started in 1959. Since 2015, the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) has recognized UMATI as a full Member Association (MA).

The goal of UMATI is to provide Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) education, information, and services in Tanzania in partnership with the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups, as well as Regional Administration and Local Government (PORALG). The association has a long history of leading SRH projects in Tanzania, including pioneering SRH programs for youth, integrated clinics, and community-based service delivery systems. This includes family planning services.

UMATI seeks a candidate who is both experienced and competent to fill the following empty position:

The occupant is responsible for the vehicle’s operation, including performance monitoring, adherence to safety protocols, and any necessary interventions to assure the vehicle’s safety. This role requires adherence to all traffic laws and regulations, as well as the performance of all driving duties as assigned and the maintenance of the vehicle in a clean, functioning condition.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • If traffic or road conditions compel you to detour from your intended route, try to stay as close to your schedule as possible.
  • Always prioritize the safety of passengers and project materials during transportation.
  • Keep a watch on the vehicle and report any unusual activity to the appropriate supervisor.
  • As needed, drives and transports personnel to various venues for official association functions.
  • Transport customers and their belongings to and from locations.
  • Prepare for delays due to construction, weather, or traffic.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor anytime you interact with clients.
  • Maintain a well-stocked and ready-to-go fleet of cars at all times.
  • When your car breaks down, have it fixed.
  • As soon as they find a problem with the assigned car or cars, please tell someone.
  • Every day, make sure to fill up the vehicle log book(s) and record every movement.
  • Deliver documents and messages as directed.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient functioning of the vehicle(s) assigned to them.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and security of the vehicle(s) and tools by keeping them neat and tidy.

Qualifications/Experience Requirements:

  • Possess a Form IV Certificate of Secondary School Evaluation.
  • Get your class C driver’s license and make sure it’s valid. You should also have at least two years’ driving experience.
  • Being able to drive a bus is an advantage.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Excellent navigational skills, including the ability to use navigation apps to locate delivery locations.
  • To fulfill deadlines, you must be able to plan ahead, manage your time properly, and monitor deliveries.
  • Proficient in client engagement due to good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer Service Expertise Personal characteristics like honesty, dependability, and dedication to UMATI’s mission and beliefs.
