The United Nations Association of Tanzania (UNA Tanzania) is a non-governmental organization that works in Tanzania to promote the principles and values of the United Nations (UN). UNA Tanzania is concerned with democracy, human rights, peace and security, and governance, as well as the Sustainable Development Goals.

UNA Tanzania collaborates with the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, as well as local and international partners, on various programs and projects to advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals to be achieved by 2030, as well as the African Union’s Agenda 2063, in order to improve people’s lives in Tanzania without leaving anyone behind.

JOB TITLE: Program Assistant Intern
REPORTING TO: Sustainable Development and Human Rights Programs Manager
DURATION: 6 Months
JOB STATION: UNA Tanzania Offices; 27 Mikocheni street, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION: BACHELOR’S DEGREE
DEADLINE: 21st October 2024

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Conduct policy and program research, analyze policy, regulations, and administrative data sets, collaborate directly with key partners to promote policy implementation, and help create and provide technical assistance and policy papers.
  • Lead the development of policy briefs and position papers, either directly (when no initial investigations are necessary) or in collaboration with chosen consultants as appropriate.
  • Responsible for research, creation, and mid-year and yearly updates to a compendium on the condition of Tanzania’s CSO environment.
  • Undertaking regular member information requirements and gap analysis (under TSDP) on important CSO environments and policy challenges impacting them in order to generate policy responses and solutions.
  • Creating and sustaining ties with both local and international organizations.
  • Creating quarterly, semi-annual, and yearly program reports.
  • Data collection and analysis for strategic project development, idea notes, and project proposals.
  • Planning and conducting national development plans and SDG training workshops and seminars to involve stakeholders. Councilors, members of parliament, officials from relevant ministries, civil society, and individuals are among those who participate.
  • Representing the organization in national, regional, and worldwide meetings and workshops, such as coordination, technical, and working groups.
  • Working for the organization to become successful and adaptable to change by establishing, enhancing, and reinforcing policies, strategies, structures, and procedures, such as the Gender and Partnership policy.
  • Supervising national and international interns and volunteers by creating a description of responsibilities, conducting organization orientation, and crafting interview questions.
  • To do any additional responsibilities as needed and appropriate for the level of this function.
