The senior WASH intern will assist the WS4H Programme with particular activities in various important areas of implementation, including administration and logistics, technical assistance, and documentation. The WS4H Programme will be implemented at the national level as well as in three regions and six districts (Arusha Regional—Meru and Longido districts; Simiyu Region—Bariadi DC and Itilima districts; and Dodoma Region—Bahi and Mpwapwa districts). The intern will offer both general administrative assistance for the project and particular technical and coordinating support for Arusha-specific activities.

Key Responsibility

Administration and Logistics support

  • Day-to-day help for internal project coordination, such as travel arrangements, procurement requests, meeting logistics, and MPESA registrations for all WS4H team members.
  • To effectively assist the team by organizing workshops, including letter preparation, venue and travel booking, timely delivery of administrative and financial procedures (partner DSA) during workshops and meetings, and general connection with project partners.
  • Direct coordination assistance for all initiatives in the Arusha area.

Technical support

  • To assist the WS4H team with project execution under the direction of the WASH Advisor, including follow-up on scheduled activities.
  • To participate in WASH technical talks and promote the production of WASH materials.
  • Support day-to-day field assignments as needed.
  • Assist the team with program documentation, such as collecting photos, writing minutes, and maintaining records of project files.
  • Support the program’s monitoring and evaluation duties, which include data collection coordination, analysis, and presenting of results.

Qualifications:

  • A degree or a related discipline in public health, environmental science, or WASH.
  • Practical expertise with WASH solutions in rural regions and/or health care institutions is an additional benefit.
  • Good awareness of the WASH sector, specifically peri-urban/rural sanitation concerns in Tanzania.
  • Experience planning meetings, managing logistics for participants, and writing letters
  • Proficient in key Microsoft Office software bundles (Excel, MS Word, and PPT) is essential.
  • Experience drafting reports, creating meeting budgets, and following up on procurement requests.
  • 2 years of work experience in the listed disciplines.
  • Experience working with NGOs is an additional benefit.
  • Innovative, enterprising, and business-oriented.
  • Knowledge on climate resilience/GEDSI problems is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
