The successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for managing the resources management functions in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, under the overall supervision of the Resource Management Officer (RMO) and the direct supervision of the National Finance Officer (NFO), as well as in collaboration with relevant units at Headquarters and the Administrative Centers.
Responsibilities:
- Extract and enter data from multiple sources into financial or accounting systems.
- Respond to accounting, budget, or financial questions about data from personnel in the unit and beyond.
- Process and release all approved and authorized cash payments and bank transfers to suppliers and personnel, ensuring that all payment requests include signed official invoices, receipts, and other supporting paperwork.
- Review all sorts of payments, from purchases to payment requests, ensuring that they are lawfully approved and that all supporting papers are attached;
- Inform the National Finance Officer with the cash forecast and aid in the development of the Mission’s monthly funding request.
- Verify vendor requests for correctness and conformity to IOM financial rules and procedures.
- Verify claims against documents to check that purchases/services are duly approved and that the products have been received or services delivered;
- Prepare the relevant receipts and journal vouchers.
- Assist with the creation of budget, accounting, financial, statistical, and other reports as needed.
- Assist with all staff services, such as travel, expense claims, document retrieval, etc.
- Ensure that all posted payments and other accounting papers are properly and systematically filled out in accordance with the specified standards.
- Responsible for the office’s petty cash.
- Maintain an up-to-date record of bank balances (USD and TZS).
- Perform any other responsibilities assigned by the supervisors.
Qualifications:
Education
- High school graduation and four years of related experience; alternatively,
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or similar subjects, plus two years of relevant professional experience.

Experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail, and Outlook; prior knowledge with SAP is a significant benefit.
- Prior experience working with international humanitarian organizations, non-governmental organizations, or government institutions or organizations in a multicultural environment is advantageous.
Skills
- Attention to detail is critical for avoiding mistakes and adhering to rules.
- The role demands expertise in data extraction, cash management, and financial reporting.Strong arithmetic abilities are required for payment processing and bank record keeping.
- Effective resource management requires strong organizational skills and thorough record-keeping.
