JRS is an international Catholic institution that offers professional assistance to refugees and other forcibly displaced individuals. Our objective is to support, assist, and protect the rights of refugees and other forcibly displaced people. This goal is built on trust in God, which has existed throughout human history, even at its most terrible periods.
JRS is now operating in Tanzanian refugee camps in the Kigoma area, with three departments: education, psychological assistance, and reconciliation. As a result, JRS is searching for an assistant human resources officer to help carry out its goal.
JRS Tanzania employs a large number of administration, implementation, and support staff at all levels, including incentive workers in camps, office attendants, drivers, assistant coordinators and coordinators in various bases, the project director, and program, finance, and logistics teams.
In this context, JRS Burundi-Tanzania is looking for a Program Assistant to handle project-related affairs for JRS Tanzania, under the direct technical supervision of the Tanzania Project Director and reporting to the Burundi-Tanzania Program Officer.
Responsibilities and tasks
- Supervision
The Program Officer for Burundi-Tanzania supervises the Program Assistant on a technical level.
Individuals reporting to him/her: Tanzania Program Assistant.
- General objective
The program assistant is a member of the team in charge of executing the programming goals outlined in the strategic plan.
This job is in charge of cross-functional programmatic information management, high-quality programming design, thorough monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning, and guaranteeing donor and JRS policy and minimum standards compliance. The Assistant Program Officer will also be in charge of providing leadership and strategic direction for the development and execution of the JRS vision and strategy in Tanzania. His/her responsibility is to assist in the execution of high-quality cross-border programs that are relevant, timely, and adhere to best practices and technical standards, as well as to lead quality assurance of program implementation.
This job is also in charge of ensuring that the Tanzania program develops successfully and to high standards. This role offers an exceptional chance to give strategic leadership in an exciting and difficult environment, as well as to drive the growth of the quality, impact, and sectoral integration of JRS’ work in Tanzania.

Terms and Conditions
The contract is for one year, renewable, with an initial probationary term of three months. The JRS compensation strategy is consistent with the JRS concept of providing effective and professional services while demonstrating solidarity with the people served.
