The Children’s Dignity Forum (CDF) Hiring Partnership and Advocacy Officer is a compassionate and dedicated non-profit organization in Tanzania, established in 2006 under the NGO Act No. 24/2002. As a non-governmental, non-partisan entity, CDF tirelessly champions the rights of children, with a particular focus on girls and young women aged 9-24.
The organization is headquartered in Dar es Salaam and operates additional offices in Tarime and Mpwapwa Districts in the Mara and Dodoma Regions. CDF’s mission is to eradicate harmful practices such as female genital mutilation (FGM), child marriage, teenage pregnancy, and other forms of exploitation, empowering young women with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to advocate for their rights and dignity.
CDF is seeking a skilled Partnership and Advocacy Officer to join its team in Dar es Salaam, reporting directly to the Program Manager. This pivotal role focuses on driving strategic advocacy initiatives to influence decision-makers at national, regional, and international levels. The officer will forge and nurture relationships with government officials, policymakers, civil society leaders, and other key stakeholders to advance CDF’s mission. By crafting compelling advocacy campaigns and representing the organization in various forums, the officer will play a critical role in promoting policies that protect and uplift children, especially girls and young women.
The Partnership and Advocacy Officer will lead high-impact advocacy strategies, engaging with top policymakers and international organizations to shape policies aligned with CDF’s goals. Responsibilities include conducting in-depth policy research, advising senior leadership on emerging trends, and developing persuasive communication materials such as policy briefs and press releases. The officer will also build coalitions with like-minded organizations, design advocacy campaigns, and monitor political and legislative developments. Additionally, they will mentor junior staff and partners, fostering a culture of effective advocacy within and beyond the organization.
Candidates for this role should hold a degree in political science, law, international relations, public policy, or a related field, with a master’s degree preferred. A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in advocacy, public policy, or government relations is essential, ideally with a background in high-level lobbying or international policy influence. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, a deep understanding of political processes, and the ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders. Leadership, adaptability, and discretion are key, along with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset. Experience in global advocacy or fluency in multiple languages is a plus.
Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, an updated CV with three referees’ contact details, and copies of relevant certificates to the Executive Director via info@cdf.or.tz or in person at CDF’s office at Ally Sykes Road, House No. 33 Ndafu Street, Mbezi Beach, Dar es Salaam, by May 16, 2025. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. The role involves occasional travel and demands the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. CDF offers an attractive remuneration package based on qualifications and experience. For more details about CDF’s impactful work, visit https://www.cdf.or.tz/careers.html.
