Operator – Water Treatment (K4) – 04 Positions Jobs at Kilombero Sugar Company Limited

Operating a water treatment plant, including raw water pumps, water clarification, filtration, reverse osmosis, a demineralized water plant, portable water production, and ensuring boiler makeup water quality.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure proper usage of chemicals and facilities at the plant to reduce costs.
• Operate and assist in maintaining equipment like pumps, decanters, filters, RO, EDI, and centrifugal systems.
• Adjust and control treatment processes to meet water quality standards for boiler and potable water.
• Ensure safe plant operation and adherence to Kilombero Sugar’s quality, safety, health, and environment policies.
• Monitor key parameters like pH and turbidity, taking timely action.
• Conduct regular water sample testing for quality and regulatory compliance.
• Perform safe chemical loading and record quantities and specifications.
• Operate a centrifugal decanter as per SOP to increase lifetime and reduce maintenance costs.
• Ensure hourly sample taking and analysis of water quality using test kits, recording parameters in the logbook.
• Maintain proper housekeeping around the plant and chemical dosing facilities.
• Conduct daily inspections around the water treatment plant and report any abnormalities.
• Ensure Clean in Place (CIP) is done for all filters as recommended.
• Maintain records of water flow flowrate, usage, and chemical usage.
• Report any non-conforming situations to the line manager.
• Perform all tasks with awareness of pollution prevention.
• Carry out other requested duties related to the plant.

Requirements:

• Diploma/Certificate in Water Supply & Sanitation, Water Technology or equivalent
• Safe handling/use of water treatment chemicals
• Knowledge of water sources and their qualities
• Method of water purification and filtration
• Knowledge of sampling & measurement of alkalinity & pH, turbidity & residual chlorine
