The Abdulrahman Al-Sumait University (SUMAIT) is built on the foundation of the former University College of Education Zanzibar, established in 1998 by a Kuwait-based charity organization, the Direct Aid Society. Job Details:

SUMAIT is seeking to recruit a skilled and experienced senior electrician responsible for a broad range of tasks related to the setup, installation, and maintenance of electrical infrastructure. Key responsibilities include

• Installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical appliances in line with safety standards
• Supervision of the storage and use of tools, measuring instruments, and equipment in a clean and secure environment
• Maintenance of job cards for electrical works/projects
• Design and installation of electrical systems, appliances, and streetlights
• Preventive maintenance of generators, transformers, and other electrical equipment

Qualifications:

• A Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution or equivalent
• Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience, preferably in higher learning institutions or similar settings
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in installation, testing, and maintenance of motors, switchgears, batteries, transformers, cables, etc.
• Familiarity with electrical testing instruments and troubleshooting of electrical systems
• Experience working with high voltage equipment
• Knowledge of modern safety procedures

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform daily electrical installations and repairs
• Participate in facility repair and maintenance
• Identify faults and recommend system rehabilitations, including estimating materials required
• Detect potential system issues before they cause damage
• Safeguard tools and equipment under their responsibility
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Estate Officer

• Proven excellent work track record
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn and adapt
• Ability to lead and mentor a team of junior electricians
