Job Description:
The Barrick Africa Middle East Team is seeking a Reliability Superintendent to join their team. The ideal candidate will embody Barrick’s core values and contribute to the world-class team.

Responsibilities:
- Managing safe working behaviors of the reliability team and ensuring a zero overdue status of investigations and actions.
- Developing the reliability engineering program to achieve reliability objectives and KPIs.
- Drafting failure mode and effect analysis sheet models to identify units posing excessive failure risks.
- Reviewing specifications and drawings with engineers and planners, proposing design modifications to improve reliability.
- Leading root cause analysis and implementation of long-term engineering solutions.
- Managing KPIs, including run hours, MTBF, and cost to repair equipment and systems.
- Managing MTBF and MTTR.
- Reviewing subcontractors’ proposals for reliability purposes.
- Contributing to the capital investment process.
- Managing equipment availabilities and utilization.
- Running the CBM team according to OEM recommendations and best practices.
- Implementing quality assurance on-site regarding repairs and maintenance done on critical equipment.
- Identifying and training a local reliability superintendent.
- Developing and deploying a training program with various types of analysis tools.
- Designing an end-to-end, automated, and closed-loop process for warranty management.
- Analyzing asset warranty data to help identify recurring issues and major warranty cost drivers.
- Ensuring all team members are aware of and committed to their DUTY OF CARE responsibilities.
- Ensuring critical controls have been implemented and confirmed on any task involving fatal risk.
- Ensuring all team members have a safe working environment, including working tools.
- Ensuring all NMGM safe work practices and procedures are followed.
- Ensuring zero involvement in an incident or accident and reporting all accidents or incidents immediately.
- Ensuring completion of at least 14 safety interactions each week.
- Ensuring workforce compliance with applicable legislation and site-specific requirements.
- Ensuring 100% achievement of weekly targets for safety interactions across the operation.
- Ensuring 100% compliance to standard operating procedures by all while on shift.
- Ensuring active participation in incident and accident investigations.
- Ensuring participation in safety management and toolbox meetings.
- Ensuring checks and all required work permits, including FLRA and WPI, are completed to a high standard and that all safety hazards raised are addressed.
- Ensuring that personnel are trained and ticketed for their designated tasks.
- Ensuring responsibility for enforcing safe work practices and procedures at the workplace.
- Ensuring immediate steps to correct unsafe or unhealthful workplace conditions or hazards are taken.
- Ensuring active participation in a positive work attitude towards safety.
- Ensuring that facilities, plants, and equipment are being used safely and for the appropriate work method.
- Conducting inspections in accordance with the relevant legislation.
- Maximizing achievement of targets with respect to safety and monthly production.
- Ensuring and maintaining compliance with mine planning, design, and profile standards.
- Ensuring and maintaining compliance based on job safety analysis (JHA) completed accurately for every task without a standard operating procedure.
- Taking accountability for the effectiveness of the environmental management system.
- Ensuring that the environmental policy and environmental objectives are established and are compatible with the strategic direction and the context of the organization.
- Ensuring that the resources needed for the environmental management system are available.
- Communicating the importance of effective environmental management and of conforming to the environmental management system requirements.
- Ensuring that the environmental management system achieves its intended outcomes.
- Directing and supporting persons to contribute to the effectiveness of the environmental management system.
- Promoting continual improvements.
- Supporting other relevant management roles to demonstrate their leadership as it applies to their area of responsibility.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or equivalent Engineering or Registered Professional Certified Engineer
- Minimum 5 years Maintenance Engineer level or higher with experience in Mining Industry and in Process plant
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in compiling and/or managing maintenance budgets.
- Minimum 2 years of management of the maintenance planning and scheduling function.
- Knowledge of mine safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Previous experience in Africa or an isolated environment in similar circumstances
- Excellent computer skills in optimized use of site-based maintenance supporting processes and systems (SAP or similar).
- Demonstrated people leadership and management skills in a similar role.
- Maintenance strategies experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
