Job Description: Agency Manager
Location: Strategis Head Office, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Reports to: Head of Operations

Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced agency manager with a proven performance record to join our team. The successful candidate will manage the agency unit, driving business growth by fostering strong, reliable relationships with agents to achieve set business targets. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the insurance market, sales expertise, and exceptional communication and analytical skills.

1. Principal Responsibilities:

• Recruit, select, and train agents to meet company standards for quality and quantity, ensuring business growth targets are achieved.
• Set sales goals, develop strategies, and generate business leads through agencies.
• Maintain acceptable business retention levels, replacing any lost business with suitable accounts in addition to meeting new business acquisition targets.
• Keep accurate records of agent communications and provide weekly updates to management on targeted new accounts.
• Ensure sales targets align with the company’s strategic objectives to meet financial obligations and deliver return on investment.
• Conduct weekly visits to intermediaries to strengthen relationships.
• Stay ahead of competitors by enhancing sales and marketing skills through classes, seminars, or workshops.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

2. Interaction with Others:

• Internal: Regular collaboration with underwriting staff, head office personnel, and sales point teams.
• External: intermediaries, other insurance companies, banks (IPF), and direct clients.

3. Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Insurance; additional professional certificates are an advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in sales, marketing, or business administration, preferably in the insurance industry.
• Hardworking, committed self-starter with strong time management skills.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.
• High integrity, ethical values, a positive attitude, and motivation.
• Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

4. Essential Skills/Qualities:

• Proficient computer skills.
• Strong client relations and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Excellent listening skills and fluency in English.
• Efficient in meeting commitments and achieving results.
• Enthusiastic and hardworking.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
• Empathetic, adaptable, and collaborative, with the ability to work independently.
• High integrity and professionalism.
