Barrick North Mara started making products for retail sales in 2002. The mine uses two deposits: Nyabirama, which is an open pit, and Gokona, which is an underground mine. The process unit can handle 8,000 tonnes of ore on average per day.
In the Tarime district of the Mara region, in northwest Tanzania, stands the North Mara gold mine (Barrick Gold Corporation). It is roughly 100 kilometers east of Lake Victoria and 20 kilometers south of the Kenyan border.
Responsibilities:
- Attending required safety meetings and courses can help you ensure safe work practices.
- As a team, support the process plant and mine’s maintenance needs.
- To ensure peak performance, offer maintenance support for process equipment such as pumps, grinding mills, gravity concentrators, hydro cyclones, flotation cells, screens, crushers, and pressure filters.
- Keeping an eye on the state of the equipment and reporting problems to stop additional damage.
- Perform regular maintenance, such as lubricating and greasing.
- Perform minor fabrication work as well as repairs and/or modifications to the plant’s component parts. Installing, fixing, and keeping mechanical equipment dependable and safe
- Maintain a variety of machinery for infrastructure projects and perform bearing examinations.
- Assembly and fitting of different plant equipment (pumps, valves, and pipelines) to enhance the infrastructure performance of the plant or mine site.
Qualification Required:
- Fitters certified by the FTC, IMMT, and VETA
- Computer literate: adept with Micro Office suite of applications and fundamental computer abilities
- A valid driver’s license
Experience Rquirement:
- At least 3 -5 years’ Experience in Fitter role in Mining Industry
Skills / Knowledge Requirements:
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
- Identification of hazards and evaluation of risks
- Awareness of Mine Health and Safety Act
- the capacity to perform under pressure with little or no supervision
- Show initiative and effective teamwork.
- Need to be capable of problem-solving.
- The capacity to create technical drawings and read and understand service and spare parts manuals.
