BRAC International in Tanzania Hiring Country Director

The existing employee will be the primary point of contact for BRAC International in Tanzania. The person in this position will oversee and guide all BI activities and staff in Tanzania. You will be responsible for developing and implementing the nation’s Annual Strategic Plan (ASP).

The Country Director is responsible for raising BRAC International’s visibility and cultivating constructive connections with important constituencies in accordance with the organization’s declared principles, aims, and objectives. This person will be in charge of coordinating activities with BRAC International’s program anchors and other unit heads in the United Kingdom, the United States, affiliate and regional offices, and fundraising representatives in the Netherlands.

  • Lead BRAC Tanzania with power and inclusivity in all aspects.
  • Leadership and people management take center stage, with a focus on employing the best qualified personnel to achieve the office’s strategic and operational objectives.
  • As funding becomes available, work with the BI global and regional teams to provide the BRAC Tanzania team with the resources it needs to carry out projects and programs successfully.
  • Maintain strict financial compliance by reporting all financial transactions in a timely and thorough way.
  • Maintain strict operational compliance by reporting program activities on time and correctly.
  • Keep track of the money that comes in and goes out of all BRAC Tanzania programs, and make sure that reports are accurate, transparent, and sent out on a regular basis to ensure that everything stays within the budgets set by donors and the organization.
  • To recruit more diverse donors and boost the quantity of money the ministry receives, it is critical to keep BI visible and engaged with the outside world.
  • In the event of a reportable incident, please adhere to the safeguarding reporting protocol and encourage others to do the same.

Level of Education Required:

  • Master’s degrees in social science, public policy, economics, development management, or other relevant fields.

What You Should Know and Can Do:

  • Having experience advocating for social protection programs as well as knowledge of these areas would be advantageous.
  • Capability for managing complex, multi-stakeholder activities, as well as establishing and implementing strategic strategies.
  • Practical experience in project evaluation, assessment, monitoring, and appraisal methodologies.
  • Proven track record of effectively developing fundraising proposals for a variety of sources.
  • Proficiency in a variety of development approaches; demonstrated skills in management, leadership, and communication.
  • This capability includes strategic thinking, brainstorming, data digestion, and analysis, as well as the capacity to provide a cohesive work or execution strategy.
  • Cultural awareness and the ability to work in culturally diverse settings.
  • Hold yourself to a high moral and ethical level.
  • Competence in time management and task prioritization.
  • Excellent skills in both writing and facilitation.
  • Strong ability in transmitting thoughts and images to others.
  • The capacity and willingness to routinely visit the project site as needed.

Qualifications needed:

  • At least fifteen years of experience directing strategic programs and coordinating development projects in a developing country, preferably Tanzania or West Africa.
  • Seven to ten years of experience running a national or multinational INGO’s country office in a culturally and socioeconomically diverse environment is necessary.
  • It would be advantageous if you had previously served as an INGOs’ Country Director or Deputy Country Director.
