CRS in Tanzania works together with Catholic parishes to deliver projects via both churches and secular local partners. Since 1962, CRS has been assisting people with low-income, vulnerable families in Tanzania by implementing orphans and vulnerable children, agricultural, health, microfinance, and WASH programs.
Job Summary:
You will assist in coordinating and implementing the Country Program’s (CP) accounting systems, policies, and procedures in line with CRS accounting standards, GAAP, IPSAS, donor rules and regulations, and legal requirements in order to support high-quality programs for the people with low-income and vulnerable populations. Compiling, assessing, and validating account information, creating account entries, and delivering financial reports and payments may all help you perform accounting services more efficiently.
Roles and key responsibilities:
- Before proceeding with any financial transactions, ensure that all required authorizations are in place and that all supporting documentation is valid and complete.
- Document monetary transactions after acquiring all relevant licenses. Review and analyze various accounts to look for inconsistencies. Provide advice on what needs to be fixed, and make the necessary entries and adjustments.
- Monitor disbursement and receipt schedules, notify relevant staff of due payments and liquidations, and maintain appropriate communication and follow-up to ensure timely management of financial resources and adherence to established deadlines.
- Assist the project team with decision-making by creating a range of financial reports (both periodic and ad hoc) and doing variance analysis.
- Share information with workers on capacity development programs, procedural compliance issues, and financial accounting standards.
- Complete the responsibilities assigned to you by the Treasury project, such as cash payment/receipt and cash forecasting.
- Work closely with the supplier chain to manage payment and purchase orders.
- Carry out any extra responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
Basic Qualifications and Experience:
- A four-year college degree with a major in accounting, finance, economics, or business management is necessary.
- A CPA, ACCA, or equivalent certification is necessary.
- A year of relevant experience is necessary, preferably with a local or international non-governmental organization (NGO), an auditing firm, or a financial or banking institution.
- Proficient with data management systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio). Skilled at utilizing online conferencing and word processing software.
- A thorough understanding of the reporting requirements and tax rules of the applicable jurisdiction.
- If feasible, expertise with a financial accounting program or similar financial reporting software would be beneficial.
