Coca-Cola Kwanza Ltd. is offering an interesting opportunity in the manufacturing area. We are seeking a skilled professional with suitable manufacturing skills and experience for the post of Maintenance Controller, headquartered in Dar es Salaam. The chosen applicant will report directly to the Unit Manager of Packaging.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Asset Care

  • Partake in the development of the asset care plan for the Utilities  equipment, contributing suggestions and providing expert advice.
  • Ensure that asset care competencies are developed in the Utilities team. Where training needs have been identified, ensure these are addressed.
  • Ensure that asset care goals are incorporated into the technicians’ team and individual goals
  • Support the implementation of the Predictive Maintenance Strategy, including the Condition Monitoring program
  • Where required, participate in the OEM SPP (Supplier Partnering Programme) meetings
  • Is accountable for the execution of the technical gap plan for utilities
  • Ensure audit compliance to the asset care program
  • Exercise budgetary controls over the asset care requirements e.g. spares
  • Support the development of the maintenance budget

2. Plant Reliability

  • Contribute to the asset care plan for utility equipment by making recommendations and offering professional advice.
  • Ensure that the Utilities team develops asset care skills. When training needs have been identified, make sure they are addressed.
  • Incorporate asset care objectives into the technicians’ team and individual goals.
  • Support the execution of the predictive maintenance strategy, which includes the condition monitoring program.
  • Participate in the OEM SPP (Supplier Partnering Programme) meetings as necessary.
  • Is responsible for executing the technical gap strategy for utilities.
  • Ensure audit compliance for the asset care program.
  • Exercise financial controls on asset care needs, such as spares.
  • Support the establishment of the maintenance budget.

3. Plant Optimization

  • Evaluate the effect of new plant and equipment and suggest modifications.
  • Have a basic grasp of plant functioning and any related work instructions and/or procedures.
  • Analyze plant failure modes and analyze the reasons for repeated failures in order to identify and address fundamental issues.
  • Participate in analyzing continuous improvement opportunities identified by production teams or engineering support.
  • Ensure that the technicians’ team objectives include continual development and that frequent goal review meetings include it.

4. Team Leadership and Management

  • Lead the technicians team in a way that fosters ownership, empowerment, and team collaboration.
  • Lead the formulation of technicians’ team objectives and ensure that team members communicate and understand them.
  • Establish a high-performance culture via frequent team goal review sessions, one-on-one meetings, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure that training needs are assessed and training programs are prepared for team members.
  • Ensure that adequate competences are created in the team and that multi-skilling happens within the packaging (this includes evaluating team workmanship).
  • Manage contracted-out maintenance services by verifying that the service provided is strictly in compliance with the supply scheme contract, as well as service and product dependability, quality, and cost, and that the service provider’s own staff behavior is appropriate while on site.

5. Safety and Housekeeping

  • Ensure that team members follow all safety and housekeeping protocols as well as all legal and KORE standards while carrying out their jobs.
  • Follow and drive NOSA safety requirements across the workplace.
  • Ensure that all statutory and obligatory checks are integrated into the asset care management system and that all paperwork is completed and documented.
  • Ensure that health, safety, and cleanliness get enough attention via frequent inspections and audits, as well as appropriate monthly/quarterly meetings.
  • Correct the identified dangerous workplace behaviors.
  • Site 5S performance evaluation and reporting.

Skills, Experience, & Education:

The position requires at least a mechanical engineering degree and 5 years of experience maintaining packaging equipment. Good grasp of safety, health, and the environment, including sustainable development; strong analytical abilities; and a high degree of integrity.
