Job Purpose: The primary objective of the Relationship Manager, MSMEs, is to drive the growth of quality assets (loans) and liabilities (deposits), while cross-selling other banking products within the assigned area.

The role requires cultivating and maintaining strong business relationships with existing and new customers, aligned with the bank’s strategic objectives.

Principle Responsibilities

Loan Portfolio Growth:

  • Identify and negotiate new business opportunities to expand the loan portfolio and off-balance-sheet facilities and generate both interest and non-interest income in line with the business center’s annual targets.
  • Follow up on sales leads and ensure timely closure of the sales pipeline.
  • Provide business development support by identifying opportunities within the assigned area and devising strategies for benefits realization.
  • Advise on the development and monitoring of strategic plans, including target market identification, sector analysis, and local market surveys based on customer feedback.
  • Assess the performance of the business center and recommend corrective actions for any deviations from set targets.

Deposit mobilization:

  • Actively solicit deposits from MSME customers and other market segments to meet the center’s deposit targets.
  • Grow and maintain the customer base through the opening and management of funded business accounts (e.g., HODARI and BIASHARA accounts).

Cross-selling:

  • Promote and cross-sell all bank products and services to MSME customers.

Portfolio Management:

  • To ensure adherence to all terms and conditions of approved loans.
  • Take prompt action for delinquent cases.

Relationship management:

  • Develop and maintain business relationships with existing and potential customers on behalf of the bank. Act as bank’s key contact person to MSME customers
  • To manage customer complaints, ensuring complaints are well addressed to satisfaction
  • Initiate and conduct customer engagements to retain them and enhance loyalty.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field, including business administration, banking and finance, accountancy, financial management, and any other related field.
  • Knowledge of financial and investment analysis 
  • Strong analytical and quantitative thinking 
  • Strong written communication skills 
  • Being well versed with software/technology used in finance/banking 
  • Basic MS-Word and Excel skills  
  • Attention to detail and diligence.
