1. External Relationship Manager – Ports and Terminals

The External Relationship Manager will be in charge of upholding and enhancing DP World’s connections with significant regulatory organizations, clients, and government agencies. In order to guarantee regulatory compliance, the function will entail communicating with government stakeholders, attending to customer needs, and promoting efficient port operations. Strong interpersonal, negotiating, and problem-solving abilities are required, as well as a thorough awareness of Tanzanian government procedures and port operations.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for DP World with the Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA), Tanzania Shipping Agency (TASAC), Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), Ministry of Transport & Communications, and other regulatory organizations.
  • Collaborating closely with government officials, make sure that local laws, regulations, and port operations policies are followed.
  • Assist in obtaining licenses and permissions from the government for port operations, improvements, and extensions.
  • To give the management timely recommendations, keep an eye on changes to rules, industry trends, and policy changes.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, and negotiations with government representatives on behalf of DP World.
  • Establish and preserve a robust network with government stakeholders to foster a cooperative working environment.
  • Analyzes data from external communications and makes appropriate decisions about communication strategy.
  • Prepare reports on a regular basis regarding customer feedback, regulatory updates, and dealings with government authorities.

Qualifications Required:

  • A bachelor’s degree in political science, public relations, business administration, or a similar discipline.
  • Having a master’s degree is beneficial.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Five years minimum of experience in customer service, public relations, or government relations positions; ideally in the port, maritime, or logistics sectors.
  • A track record of effectively managing consumer interactions and interacting with government agencies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Strong ability to solve problems and negotiate.
  • Thorough knowledge of Tanzania’s regulatory environment.
  • Capacity to oversee several stakeholders and function in a dynamic, high-speed setting.
  • proficiency with customer relationship management (CRM) software and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong familiarity with the operations of ports and the maritime sector.
