GIZ is a federally owned enterprise operating worldwide, assisting the German Government in achieving its policy objectives in the field of international cooperation. It offers demand-driven, tailor-made and effective services for sustainable development worldwide. In Tanzania and across the region GIZ supports the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and the EAC in attaining their development goals.
The core of GIZ’s field organization are its Country Offices (CO). They guarantee the company’s overall consistent image and its profitable standing as a service provider in the market for international cooperation.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Ensures that the procurement and logistics unit operates effectively and efficiently and provides services in accordance with service level agreements, GIZ’s Process and Rules (P+R), and
- Accountable for ensuring that the unit’s annual goals are met
- Oversees the unit’s procedures, the distribution of human resources, and the efficient collaboration on projects.
- In charge of organizing and overseeing the yearly procurement process in conjunction with projects and clusters
- Actively participates in the ongoing creation of effective, high-quality standards and procedures for procurement
- Successfully guides the procurement team in accordance with GIZ leadership standards and is in charge of the unit’s human resource development.
- Answers questions concerning problems in the Logistics and Procurement Unit with efficiency.
Required Entry Qualifications and Competencies:
- A master’s degree in business administration, economics, law, or a related field
- A minimum of five years of work experience in a related role with managerial expertise
- Honed organizational abilities and the capacity to operate independently from the conceptual stage
- Extremely strong practical understanding of ITC technology and software (e.g. MS Office)
- Excellent command of English, and ideally some understanding of German
- Willingness to upskill as needed to complete the job at hand; management has agreed on the necessary procedures.
