World Vision is seeking a qualified and experienced Finance and Grants Officer to join their team in Tanzania. This role will be responsible for managing project budgets, ensuring compliance with donor and WV guidelines, and building the capacity of partner organizations.
This is a pivotal opportunity for a finance professional who is passionate about development work and has a keen eye for budget management and grants compliance. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that donor resources are effectively utilized and that partner organizations are empowered with the financial tools and knowledge needed to succeed.
Budget Management and Monitoring:
You will lead the budgeting process, ensuring that project spending is aligned with approved budgets and donor expectations. This involves ongoing monthly analysis of financial data, revising budgets when necessary, and offering strategic financial insights to the project management team. Your role will directly influence the project’s ability to operate efficiently and achieve its goals within financial constraints.
Partner Management:
The role requires active engagement with partner organizations to ensure sound financial practices and compliance with grants. You will conduct quarterly visits for financial reviews, provide ongoing capacity building, and assist partners in aligning their operations with World Vision and donor standards. Strengthening the financial literacy and accountability of partners will be a core function of your work.
Financial Management:
You will be responsible for ensuring that financial operations across the project are accurate, transparent, and aligned with both internal policies and donor regulations. This includes maintaining asset registers, supporting procurement processes, verifying project expenditures, and providing timely technical assistance to project staff. Your financial oversight will be critical to preventing waste and fraud while supporting operational excellence.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate should have at least five years of progressive experience in financial management within donor-funded environments, with strong skills in budgeting, accounting, and grants compliance. A background with international NGOs, professional accounting certifications like CPA or ACCA, and proficiency in accounting software (particularly Excel and SunSystems) are highly desirable. Excellent communication skills, team leadership, and the ability to build effective partnerships will also be crucial for success in this role.
