Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) is looking for qualified Tanzanians to fill a one-year contract position in the Internationalization and Convocation Unit (ICU), as shown below.
The ICU unit of MUHAS is in charge of organizing all foreign and visiting scholars’ issues, maintaining collaborative relations, and overseeing university convocation events.
The internationalization and convocation officer will work full-time for and report to the head of the internationalization and convocation unit. The work location will be at MUHAS Upanga.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and investigate prospects for academic exchange programs and collaborative research efforts.
- Create and execute plans for international relationships and cooperation.
- Coordinate foreign student recruiting and support services.
- Organize workshops and seminars to encourage internationalization among academics, staff, and alumni.
- Maintain partnerships with the government, partner institutions, international organizations, and embassies.
- Promote university exchange program activities.
- Plan, plan, and carry out convocation ceremonies while meeting all logistical requirements.
- Collaborate with academic departments to collect necessary information for the convocation program.
- Oversee the proper operation of the alumni database.
- Maintain contact with graduates, alumni, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain and maintain the unit’s website as well as its social media pages.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in international relations, education, business administration, public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field.
- Having a Masters or higher degree will be an additional benefit.
- At least three years of relevant professional experience in project management, international relations, higher education administration, or event management.
- Excellent reporting and coordination skills, as well as strong and proven organizational and managerial abilities.
- Demonstrates strong leadership, technical expertise, and professional abilities to ensure timely implementation, coordination, and administration of operations.
- Ability to collaborate in a team, create synergies, and build good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Openness to adapt, as well as the capacity to absorb and incorporate input and interact with external constituents from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities, particularly in the practical applications of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
