Job Description​

Debt Capital Markets  40 %

  • The creation of capital market issuances.
  • End-to-end management of issuance proposals via in-country and group governance.
  • Lead engagements with transaction advisers and partners to achieve successful issuances on the best terms possible.
  • Lead engagements with relevant regulators to obtain support and approval.
  • Work in coordination and alignment with the ALM, Capital Management, and Liquidity Management functions.
  • Collaborate with coverage teams to drive appetite scoping, market intelligence, and investor engagement.
  • Create pitches and advertising materials in coordination with marketing.
  • A partner of Investment Banking that provides custody, registry, and other transaction advising services.
  • To discover lessons and opportunities, conduct research and analysis on debt issuance activity in various markets.
  • Ensure that continued listing obligations, as well as other capital market laws and regulations, are met.

ESG 40%

  • Identify and raise ESG financing to assist qualified initiatives.
  • Collaborate with in-country and group stakeholders to create frameworks, rules, standards, and guides for ESG financing.
  • Work with diverse partners and stakeholders to establish a bank-wide understanding of ESG and compliance to relevant standards.
  • ESG Stakeholder Mapping
  • Increase bilateral ESG financing.
  • Create an ESG-compliant funding pipeline for clients, projects, and assets in partnership with coverage.
  • In partnership with coverage, assess the success of sustainable initiatives and offer frequent reports on the usage of proceeds and their impact.
  • Originate ESG bonds, lead successful issuances, and ensure compliance with the use of revenues.
  • Lead discussions with advisers and second opinion providers, as well as confirmation of compliance with the guiding principles/framework.
  • Grant management
  • Develop process flows/maps for ESG products.

Long-Term Finance 5%

  • In coordination with ALM, liquidity management, capital management, finance, and business units monitor and assess the bank’s medium- and long-term funding requirements, as well as formulate financing plans.
  • Obtain local and foreign currency financing from local and international lenders on the best conditions possible.
  • Regularly assess current debts and other financing on the balance sheet to ensure that the cost of funds supports the bank’s goals.
  • Investigate and implement measures/options for reprice/redeem financing that is not competitively priced.
  • Work with coverage to ensure Lender KYC, DD, NDAs, and other papers are completed as required.
  • Continue to enhance the number, amount, and duration of credit and borrowing lines that local and foreign banks have granted to NBC.
  • Identify additional capital sources to diversify the balance sheet and pursue talks on pricing and covenants.

Other Responsibilities

  • Be part and team player in ALM, Liquidity Management and Capital Management.
  • On ad-hoc basis, be flexible and ready to take on other Funding and Treasury-related duties.
  • Any other responsibilities that may be allocated by Head of Treasury.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Business, Economics or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CISI Certification by CMSA
  • ESG-related certification
  • Other Capital Markets or Investment Certification

Minimum Experience Required

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Debt Capital Markets or related function with some exposure in Treasury function.
  • In-depth understanding of global financial markets, financial instruments, and capital structures.
  • Excellent knowledge of global Environmental, Social, and governance trends, challenges and opportunities
  • Familiarity with corporate debt markets and instruments.

Preferred Experience

  • Transaction advisory experience
  • Bond Issuance and Listing Experience
  • ESG Finance Experience
  • An in-depth experience of the fundamentals of financial markets
  • Proven track-record in client advisory on DCM and the topic of ESG/sustainable finance.

Knowledge & Skills required

  • Knowledge of ESG issues, particularly those related to sustainable finance.
  • Project Management Experience: shown ability to lead and manage projects, particularly those involving finance and capital markets efforts.
  • Capability to plan, coordinate, and pursue many initiatives concurrently.
  • Knowledge of the Tanzanian regulatory framework on capital markets and ESG
  • Self-starter and results-oriented.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effectively communicating with stakeholders and managing relationships.
  • Positive and lively.

Qualifications:
