“Ruaha Catholic University (RUCU) is the successor to Ruaha University College (RUCO), which was founded by the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) under its Trust Deed of the Registered Trustees of Ruaha University College with the generous support of well-wishers (friends of RUCU) both inside and outside of the country. The University is regulated and administered in accordance with the Catholic Church’s Policy on Higher Education Institutions Ex-Corde Ecclesia, as well as the terms of the University Constitution. Certificate Awards:
If a candidate has passed the East Africa Certificate of Education (EACE) “O” level or the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE), they will be considered for admission to a certificate program.

Diploma Admissions:
If a candidate has passed the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or the East Africa Certificate of Education (EACE) “O” level with passes in at least four approved subjects and the A level with at least three subsidiary OR one-year certificate, they will be eligible to be considered for admission to a diploma program.
Degree Admissions:
The following are the minimal prerequisites for admission to a first degree:
- Prior to the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (A.C.S.E.E.) or comparable examination, a candidate must have earned a Certificate of Secondary Education (C.S.E.E.) or equivalent with passes in FOUR recognized courses.
- In the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (A.C.S.E.E.), at least two Principal level passes and a total of four or more points (where A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1, and S=0.5) in subjects that are permitted.
- Similar credentials, such as regular or advanced diplomas or degrees that meet the requirements for the program and have a minimum GPA of three, are accepted.
Postgraduate Diploma Awards:
A candidate must have completed the criteria for the award of a degree with a GPA of at least 2.0, hold a first degree from this university or any other recognized university, or both in order to be considered for admission to the postgraduate diploma.
Master’s Awards:
A candidate must have a GPA of at least 2.7 and a first degree from this university or any other recognized university in order to be considered for admission to a master’s program.
PhD Awards:
A candidate must have a Master’s degree from this university or any other accredited university with a GPA of 3.0 or above in order to be considered for admission to the PhD program.

The student, along with the sponsor or legal guardian, has full responsibility for all fees and other financial obligations. In cases where HESLB is the sponsor, these loans shall be processed in compliance with the policies periodically issued by the Loans Board.
