SoCha LLC Hiring Chief of Party

SoCha LLC is looking for a full-time, skilled professional to fill the position of Chief of Party (COP) for the upcoming USAID/Tanzania Strengthening Local Organizations Activity. This multi-year program aims to increase the capacity of Tanzanian local organizations, including USAID partners, to implement and manage development activities in an effective and sustainable manner.

The COP post will be full-time, based in Dar es Salaam, and is subject to award.

Responsibilities:

The COP will head the project team. They will be responsible for the project’s overall implementation and administration.

  • Provide strategic guidance and managerial control for the project.
  • Assume overall responsibility for all project technical activities, such as report preparation, learning and dissemination, and other associated responsibilities.
  • Manage and manage the work of project employees, subcontractors, and grants.
  • Serve as the principal point of contact for USAID, implementing partners, host-country officials, and other stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain good connections with important stakeholders, such as USAID representatives, local partners, government counterparts, and community leaders.
  • Ensure the quality and responsiveness of all contract deliverables.
  • Responsible for making critical decisions and resolving problems quickly while maintaining operational and program integrity.
  • Ensure cost-effective management by promptly detecting contract-related difficulties and hazards.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • It is preferable to have an advanced degree in a relevant discipline such as international development, statistics, economics, or something else.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of proven relevant and increasingly responsible project management experience for donor-funded initiatives, particularly in East Africa.
  • At least five (5) years of COP or similar project leadership experience in capacity-building-related donor-funded projects, preferably USAID-funded.
  • Experience designing and conducting capacity-building programs for civil society organizations and/or local government counterparts.
  • Previous expertise with transition grants and/or assisting local partners in receiving direct donor money is preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, including donor/development organizations, government officials, civil society leaders, community leaders, and project beneficiaries.
