Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Quotations and Risk Acceptances:
    • Complete and dispatch allocated quotations, approved by the Assistant Underwriting Manager, within the agreed turnaround time.
    • Accept new proposals meeting underwriting standards, subject to senior underwriter approval, within delegated authority.
  2. Underwriting Process and Procedures:
    • Analyze and verify proposal forms and risk notes for compliance with underwriting standards.
    • Register and input new business into the system within the agreed turnaround time.
    • Issue motor certificates/cover notes and register them in the TIRA MIS system.
    • Reconcile used stickers and cover notes from intermediaries.
    • Ensure proper filing and retrieval of underwriting documents.
    • Prepare and issue policies for personal line and motor insurance within delegated authority.
    • Process endorsements within authority levels.
    • Respond to correspondence within delegated authority.
    • Adhere to all process procedures and controls.
  3. Policy Renewals:
    • Review allocated renewal listings two months prior to policy expiry and dispatch renewal notices to clients.
    • Follow up on policies due for renewal, providing weekly reports to the Assistant Underwriting Manager to achieve a minimum 90% monthly retention ratio.
  4. Filing:
    • Comply with the agreed filing and record-keeping system.
  5. Customer Service:
    • Address inquiries from direct customers visiting the office.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education:
    • University degree in Insurance & Risk Management.
    • Knowledge of computer applications.
  • Work Experience:
    • At least one year of experience in a general insurance environment.
