The Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC) is a pivotal organization that unites various women and youth entrepreneurs across Tanzania. Established in December 2005, TWCC serves as an apex and umbrella entity encompassing sectoral Business Women Associations, Companies, Cooperatives, Groups, and Sole Proprietors. TWCC currently boasts a membership exceeding 15,000 and reaches over 1 million women from all sectors of the economy, with 27 Regional Chapters in Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar. It includes 14 Women Sectoral Associations and 11 Platforms for women in Cross-Border Trade.
The project accountant is in charge of assisting with the financial administration of the several TWCC projects that are being carried out. The position include keeping up-to-date financial records, keeping an eye on budgets, and making sure that donor requirements and internal regulations are followed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Management Support:
- Aid in the creation of reports, project budgets, and financial statements.
- Examine every project expense and offer your thoughts.
- Make sure to accurately and promptly record financial transactions using accounting software.
- Keep track of project-related costs to make sure they match authorized spending plans.
- Assist the finance manager with the processing of payment vouchers, invoices, and receipts.
Budget Monitoring and Reporting:
- Assist with project budget monitoring to prevent overspending and guarantee appropriate fund distribution.
- Take part in creating management-facing budget reports.
- Help with the monthly financial summaries that are being reviewed by the finance manager.
Audit and Compliance:
- Help with audits, both internal and external, by creating the necessary paperwork.
- Verify that all financial transactions adhere to donor criteria and internal policies.
- Assist in locating inconsistencies in financial records and make remedial recommendations.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Keep thorough records of every financial transaction pertaining to the project.
- Help with the organization, filing, and storage of supporting documentation for all financial transactions.
- Make ensuring that financial reports are prepared and sent to the appropriate institutions on schedule.
Assets Management:
- Keep an extensive asset register.
- Put asset management policies into practice, making sure to document any modifications, additions, or removals of real estate or equipment.
- Help with asset movement control, asset tagging, and asset security management.
- Perform asset verification procedures on a regular basis.
Collaboration and Support:
- To guarantee that project goals and finances are in line, collaborate closely with all departments.
- Help the finance staff with the financial closing and end-of-month reconciliation procedures.
- Assistance with keeping correct records and managing petty cash.
- Carry out any additional tasks that management assigns you.
Academic and Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related subjects.
Work Experience:
- Five years of budgeting and project accounting experience.
- Strong familiarity with reporting and accounting rules.
- CPA certification is an extra benefit.
- Familiarity with contemporary accounting software.
Technical Skills & Behavioral Competencies:
- Understanding of project accounting, budgeting, and the finance industry.
- Capacity to create donor reports and oversee project funds.
- Exceptional organizational abilities and rapid learning speed.
- Proficiency in both written and spoken Swahili and English.
- Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and Excel, including pivot tables.
- Knowledge of project budgeting and accounting standards.
- Honesty, responsibility, and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical reasoning, collaboration, and team spirit.
